Kayla Guitar (she/her) earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Massey University and her Master of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2025. She also holds a Master’s degree in Audiology from the University of Auckland. Kayla recently completed her practicum at Mind at Peace, where she had the opportunity to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.
She is currently in the process of applying to become a Licensed Counselling Therapist – Candidate with the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick (CCTNB).
Kayla offers a therapeutic approach tailored to each client’s unique needs, goals, and preferences. She integrates various evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Person-Centered Therapy, depending on what best supports the individual. Her work is guided by a biopsychosocial framework, ensuring a holistic understanding of each client.
Her approach is collaborative, respectful, and rooted in empathy, providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts and emotions.
With her background in audiology, Kayla is particularly well-equipped to support individuals experiencing hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis, and misophonia. She also has a special interest in supporting parents through a positive parenting approach, helping them respond effectively to their children’s individual needs.
Committed to lifelong learning, Kayla regularly engages in continuing education to deepen her skills and stay current with best practices in the field. She is currently completing Gottman Level 1 training.
