Psychologist

 

Eve Arseneau is a devoted mother of two teenage daughters. Eve is a clinical psychologist by training. She has nearly 20 years' experience in the mental health field. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology from the Université de Moncton, and has been a member of the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick since 2004.  She continually enriches her knowledge through annual training courses. Eve began her career at the Bathurst Mental Health Centre. She continued her work at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, before taking on another professional challenge with the youth mental health team at the CSSS de la Pointe de l'île in Montreal. Back in the Chaleur region, she worked as a psychologist from 2012 to 2019 at the Community Mental Health Centre, child/adolescent team in Bathurst.

In 2018, she and her business partner Marie-Pierre Godin co-founded the "Mind at Peace Centre Mieux-Être" located in northern New Brunswick. This multidisciplinary clinic, which brings together a variety of professional expertise under one roof, prioritizes interventions based on a person's overall well-being. They then proceed to open a 2nd center in Campbellton in 2020, a 3rd in Caraquet and a 4th in Baie Comeau, Quebec in 2023.  Their company now employs close to 50 people, and has won several awards, including Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in 2020 and Business of the Year in 2021 from the Chaleur Chamber of Commerce. To top it all off, in 2021 they received the prestigious Business of the Year award from the Conseil économique du Nouveau-Brunswick.

Regularly called upon by the media to comment on various mental health situations and issues, supervisor and speaker, trans health specialist, instigator of several community projects, including the Wellness Summit in Northern New-Brunswick and the Consent and Healthy Relationships Summit. Eve's involvement and interventions are numerous and take many forms. She co-founded the Trans-Action support group, which was one of the first support groups for families with a transgender child in NB. With the support of colleagues, she also organized the artistic evening "Visages aux 1000 couleurs", showcasing the various talents of young people in the Chaleur region who have a mental health disorder.  She also wrote the foreword to the book "Sortir de l'ombre" by Mathieu Hachey.

Eve is also co-founder and vice-president, with her colleagues Lyne Chantale Boudreau, president and Marie-Pierre Godin, secretary, of the non-profit organization El2ES Éducations, whose mission is to seek to eradicate all forms of violence in all environments. Their workshops and training programs focus on raising awareness and educating people about healthy relationships, in which consent is central. Eve's community involvement doesn't stop there, as she sits on the advisory committee for the fund-raising campaign of the Marichette Foundation, a non-profit organization that offers post-secondary scholarships to financially disadvantaged women in the province. And, in 2023, Eve was elected to the Board of Directors of the Conseil Économique du Nouveau-Brunswick.
